CISA Truly Here to Help
Most of us cringe when we here “I am from the Federal Government and I am here to help you”. That need not be the case with CISA (Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency). As outlined by Mark Kreyer who heads the Buffalo/Rochester office, CISA is aligned with public and private entities and has a well-founded service approach that is good for both the US government and those of us here locally.
CISA is relatively new as an agency, but, has roots in multiple departments across the US government. It is led by Director Christopher Krebs reporting into the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As with the Buffalo/Rochester office, field operations make up most of the over 3,000 employees in this agency. CISA is the pinnacle of national risk management for cyber and physical security.

CISA focuses on four key areas:
-
Federal network protection
-
Comprehensive cyber protection
-
Infrastructure resilience
-
Emergency communications

CISA advisors in our area meet with public and private sector entities – over 200 meetings locally. CISA advisors perform the following functions that can bring significant value to individual businesses, public concerns and groups such as ASIS:
-
Info sharing
-
Risk and vulnerability assessments
-
Watch floor operations
-
Operational planning, training and exercises
-
Data synthesis and analysis
