MCC Serves as Local Resource for Education of Security Professionals

Monroe Community College’s new program in Private Security Studies offers structured education for both current security professionals and new entrants interested in working in the field of security.  This affordable program is part of the college’s highly-regarded criminal justice program. The program was designed by Peter Francione, Professor of Criminal Justice, at MCC. A total of 29 credit hours are required to obtain a Private Security Studies Certificate.

The program provides a comprehensive introduction to the world of private security which includes topics such as risk assessment, physical security, security within the legal system, work place violence, organized retail crime, and white-collar crime. Course work covers methodology, conduct and purpose of conducting investigations and interviews, supported by an unique retail store environment lab.

This program can serve as a training/education resource to private and public businesses – and a potential source of future talent.
