Made in Beijing: The Plan for Global Market Domination

China has a documented plan to dominate key markets (technology, energy, healthcare, etc.) in the next five years. With this plan, there has been known and documented attempts to use economic espionage to further the cause toward market domination. Agent Chilbert shared a video the outlines a number of cases when seemingly innocent people have stolen and provided inside information and trade secrets to Chinese government and corporations.

The awareness of this calls for greater diligence on the part of US government and companies to protect critical information and materials. Especially vulnerable are the know how behind commercial products and industrial research in these key targeted industries. Relative to security, cyber attacks have been the most prolific. In addition, there have been a number of cases of stolen goods on physical properties. Corporations, institutions such as universities, and businesses should be monitoring for and taking security measures to protect against these attacks.

FBI local and regional offices have trained staff to assist in the prevention and investigation of incidents. They perform day to day electronic surveillance to uncover potential and real threats. The FBI investigates cases and provides corporate liaisons along with other law enforcement agencies to support protection against the threats stemming from China.
